Shaun Usmar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Shaun is an international mining executive with 25 years of experience working around the globe in operational, financial and executive leadership roles in some of the world’s largest and fastest growing mining companies. Prior to founding Triple Flag, Mr. Usmar served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Barrick Gold Corporation, from 2014 to 2016, where he helped restructure the company. He joined Xstrata in 2006 as an early senior executive member of the management team that grew the company into one of the world’s largest diversified miners at the time of its acquisition by Glencore in 2013. While at Xstrata his roles included General Manager of Business Development in London, CFO of Xstrata’s global Ferro-Alloys business in South Africa, and CFO of Xstrata’s global Nickel business in Canada. Prior to Xstrata, Mr. Usmar worked at BHP Billiton in Corporate Finance in London, and started his career in mining in operations in the steel and aluminum industries as a production engineer. Mr. Usmar is a member of the Board of Directors of Peabody Energy Corporation and a director of Make-A-Wish Canada.

He holds a BSc Eng in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, both with distinction.


Sheldon Vanderkooy, Chief Financial Officer & General Counsel

Sheldon is a founding member of the Triple Flag management team, with over twenty years experience in the mining sector. Since joining, the Triple Flag team has deployed nearly US$1 billion in assembling a leading portfolio of streams and royalties. Prior to Triple Flag, he was Assistant General Counsel at First Quantum Minerals Ltd. and Senior Director, Legal Affairs at Inmet Mining Corporation. Prior to joining Inmet, he was a corporate partner at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Toronto, Canada. Prior to starting his corporate practice, Sheldon began his legal career practicing tax law at Blakes.

Sheldon holds a law degree from the University of Western Ontario where he graduated as the gold medalist. Prior to attending law school, Sheldon was a Chartered Accountant at Ernst & Young LLP. Sheldon also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen’s University.


Allan Polk, Vice President, Mining Engineering

Allan is a mining engineer with twenty-five years of experience in mine operations, technical services, due diligence and consulting for both underground and open pit mines in a variety of commodities at mines and projects around the world. He is an expert in resource to reserve conversion as a qualified person for technical reports and as a corporate technical representative at operating mines and development projects. Allan recently worked at Forbes and Manhattan as the Vice President of Mining, Pan American Silver Corporation as the Director of Mining Engineering and he was a Principal Engineer at Snowden Mining Industry Consultants in Vancouver.


James Dendle, Vice President, Geology & Investor Relations

James is a skilled geologist with more than ten years of global experience in both the private sector and in consultancy services. He has a broad background in estimating and auditing resources and reserves, multi-disciplinary due diligence and technical studies. Prior to joining Triple Flag, he was a Senior Consultant at SRK Consulting (UK) Limited, working globally on a wide range of operating mines, development and exploration projects, across predominantly base and precious metals. James is also a member of the Board of Directors of GoldSpot Discoveries Corp.

James holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology (1st Class Honours) and a Master of Science in Mining Geology (Distinction) from the University of Exeter, Camborne School of Mines, and is a Chartered Geologist of the Geological Society of London.


Eban Bari, Vice President, Finance

Eban is a senior finance professional with over fifteen years’ experience in financial reporting across complex multi-national organizations. Prior to joining Triple Flag, he spent nine years at Barrick and most recently as Senior Director Financial Reporting. He holds a CPA designation in Canada as well as a CPA designation in the United States (Illinois).


Katy Board, Vice President, Talent & ESG

Katy is a Human Resources professional who has nearly twenty years’ experience, more than a dozen of which are in the mining industry. Prior to joining Triple Flag, Katy consulted to various small and large cap mining companies; advising and providing insight to both board and executives on Executive Compensation, Governance and Disclosure initiatives. She was with Barrick Gold for ten years where she was Vice President, Global Total Rewards. Katy has also held various corporate positions in both the pharmaceutical and hotel industries.

She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Ryerson University in Toronto and is also a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and a Global Remuneration Professional (GRP).


Leshan Daniel, Managing Director, Finance

Leshan is a finance professional with several years of experience in financial reporting and compliance. Prior to joining Triple Flag, she spent fifteen years with Barrick Gold Corporation, most recently as Director of Finance.

Leshan is a chartered accountant and CFA charter holder. She holds a Bachelors of Accounting and Finance degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science.


Andrew McLarty, Director, Corporate Development & Investor Relations

Andrew is a finance professional with a focus in metals and mining. Prior to joining Triple Flag, he worked in the financial industry, most recently with TD Securities where he spent five years in the investment banking group supporting clients across the global metals and mining sector and advising on a number of M&A and capital markets transactions.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen’s University.


Steve Bristo, Director, Corporate Development

Steve is a finance professional with over ten years of experience in the mining and natural resources sector. Prior to joining Triple Flag, he worked in Global Mining Research at RBC Capital Markets where he was part of a team covering base metals mining companies. He also previously held roles at Merrill Lynch Canada and the Marquee Group.

Steve is a CFA charterholder and holds a Master of Business Administration (Honours) from the Rotman School of Management and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Toronto.


Caleb Crockwell, Legal Counsel

Caleb is a lawyer with a broad range of experience in many areas of corporate law, which have included banking and asset finance, mergers and acquisitions, funds, shipping, aviation, data protection, intellectual property, corporate governance, incorporated segregated accounts and various other corporate transactional matters. Prior to joining Triple Flag, Caleb was a corporate associate at Appleby (Bermuda) Limited, Benedek Lewin Limited and Harneys (Bermuda) Limited (a former affiliate of Harney Westwood & Riegels).

Caleb holds undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees from the University of the West of England and Aberystwyth University. He also serves as director and trustee on Bermuda company and trust boards.


Lorna Bloemetje, Accounting Manager

Lorna is an accounting professional, bringing many years of Corporate Accounting experience to Triple Flag Mining.

She previously worked for Barrick Gold in Toronto for thirteen years managing Corporate accounting, including reporting (actuals, budgets/forecasts), accounting processes, governance, and expense reporting. Prior to emigrating from South Africa in 2004, she managed the Corporate accounting departments in the Finance Division at The Foschini Group (A South African retail company) for many years.

Lorna has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of South Africa and holds the CPA, CGA designation.
